If you are planning to become a member of the Oregon State Bar through admission on motion (reciprocal admission) or are new to the practice of law in Oregon, this program is geared specifically for you. Some of the Oregon bar’s most experienced practitioners share their expertise and highlight what’s different in the Beaver State when it comes to civil procedure and legal ethics. Learn the rules and conventions for discovery, tips and traps regarding pleadings and parties, the unwritten rules for depositions, and some basics about Oregon’s state and federal courts. The disciplinary process is explained with perspectives from the Client Assistance Office, Disciplinary Counsel’s Office, a private practitioner who represents attorneys through the process, and a deputy general counsel for TriMet, the Portland Metro area’s regional public transportation agency.
Please note: This seminar’s presentations qualify as mandatory subjects required for admission on motion (reciprocal admission). Applicants must complete their CLE requirements within six months before or after filing an application. Questions regarding this requirement may be directed to the OSB Admissions Department at (503) 431-6310.
