New media technologies can increase productivity, client satisfaction, and resource usage for small firms and solo practitioners, but how do you separate the wheat from the chaff? It’s possible to build a successful law firm by focusing on low overhead and technology-mediated solutions. This presentation provides a survey of a range of tools, including off-the-shelf alternatives to mainstream software, some surprisingly accessible DIY solutions for those interested in digging a little deeper into customization, and a brief discussion of considerations relative to open-source and cloud-based solutions.
