The practice of elder law and estate planning is changing rapidly. Attorneys are being asked to serve increasingly complex clients, manage growing teams, navigate changing technology, responsibly adopt artificial intelligence, and somehow build profitable practices without allowing the firm to consume every available hour. This half-day intensive addresses these challenges across three connected sessions. Attendees will examine the economics of their time and team, the ethical obligations governing AI adoption in Oregon, and the practical opportunities to redesign recurring work through better people, processes, technology, and artificial intelligence. At the conclusion of the program, attendees should be able to:
- Identify recurring lawyer-level work that may be limiting firm capacity and profitability.
- Apply Oregon Formal Ethics Opinions 2025-205 and 2026-208 to practical AI scenarios involving client work, intake, marketing, and law firm operations.
- Distinguish work that should remain human from work that may appropriately be delegated, automated, or augmented with AI.
