From the ghosts of Antelope to cattle ranching in Nevada, this year’s Litigation Institute & Retreat focuses on a variety of topics to strengthen, enhance, and elevate the litigation skills of Oregon lawyers. Start with honing written persuasive advocacy skills, then hear three judges discuss what they learned from jurors in high-profile cases. Find out what it was like handling legal issues that surfaced in Wild Wild Country, and get a glimpse of some of Oregon’s most historic and sensational trials. The Honorable Michael Mosman, Chief Judge for the District of Oregon, will share his thoughts and experience about what distinguishes good litigators from great trial lawyers. A judges panel shares what attorneys can learn from post-trial juror interviews, and four experienced litigators will discuss what works—and doesn’t work—when trying to persuade a jury.
The 22nd Annual Owen M. Panner Professionalism Award will be presented to the Honorable Anna Brown, U.S. District Court, District of Oregon, Portland.
